ANSWERS:

1. Why a profile video?
The short answer: A profile video is an efficient way of earning the loyalty and respect of the birthparents you are trying to reach over traditional profile methods.

Research tells us Millennials prefer things fast and are comfortable with technology like the internet, wireless phones, and DVD players, etc.

2. How long does it take?
For the actual interview taping we suggest blocking off three hours, usually less. This includes lighting tweaks and everything else inherent to video production.

For completion of the entire profile video there is no fixed time because of a host of fluid factors related to video production. But my goal is three weeks, which includes editing, posting on the internet, DVD duplication, etc.

3. What's the cost?
It depends on the option you choose. But it's comparable to a small wedding video package, usually less. I can't remember the last time I looked at my wedding photos. I'm not even sure where they are, but I do hug my child everyday.

4. Who's behind the music in our profile videos?

Jeff GersonJeff Gerson, Original Music
In an effort to control his penchant for emptying the cupboards of pots and pans and using spoons to 'play' them, Jeff Gerson's parents decided music lessons were worth a try. Subsequent to the first year spent playing the production of a musical that ran on Broadway for fifteen years, he chose to seek a graduate degree in music composition. Following its completion, he spent the next ten years in Los Angeles. There, as a player and/or composer, he worked on virtually every episode of such shows as Hill Street Blues, The A Team, Magnum PI, Greatest American Hero, among numerous others. He also brought his contributions to the record world (Bruce Hornsby, The Temptations), and feature films (River Rat, Rhinestone, Loving Couples). Finally accepting the reality that a position as (extremely) small forward with the Los Angeles Lakers was not to be, he relocated to the midwest in 1989. Since then, he has kept busy creating music for programming running on networks such as VH1, ESPN, TLC, and Telemundo. Additionally, writing music for advertising, corporate, and broadcast affiliate applications has been a part of the palette. In his spare time, Gerson continues to diligently practice the John Wooden hook shot drill.

5. Can I specify a particular question in my interview?
Yes. We also have a collection of existing questions to which we're always adding. But if there is something particular about yourself you want brought out in the profile video please point it out to us before the interview taping so we can be sure to include it in your finished video.

It's also good to check with your agency or law firm because sometimes they have certain questions they would like addressed.

6. Will our profile video appear on AdoptProfiles.com?
Probably not.  It depends on how your law firm or agency would like your profile to be presented.

A majority of agencies and law firms prefer your profile video appear in a pop-up window on their individual web-sites.

7. What if I stumble or say something wrong during the interview?
Not a problem. This isn't live TV. If you get tongue-tied no one is going to know because we edit all bloopers.

So if you're answering a question and realize there's a better way of saying something, or you want to rethink your answer, do so. In fact we encourage it. This is a relaxed no pressure interview. It can even be fun.

8. What should I wear for the interview?
Solid colors work best. Avoid black, white, and pinstripes.

Watch the demonstration video on this web-site and look at their clothing. If you can't decide, bring two or three outfits to the interview and change if you feel the need.

9. Will a profile video hurt our adoption chances?
No! This is like dating. You can only be yourself. Some will take a liking to who you are, others won't.  It's out of your control.

When my wife and I were adopting we were passed over because there wasn't enough divorce in our family history. Go figure?

But my point is our son's birthmother ultimately loved us for who we are and chose us to be his parents.

10. Is there extra cost for the internet hosting of our profile video?
No. Internet hosting is included. No pay-per-click or monthly hosting fee for the duration your video profiles is posted.

So three months or 24, one click or a 1000. Have at it.
